Originally from Chicago, Joe Leto is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, where he received a B.S. in Sociology, History, Communications, and Secondary Education. Upon graduating in 2000, although he loved teaching high school, Joe knew that his true passion and love was to become a professional massage therapist and travel the country. He followed this dream by graduating valedictorian from the Chicago School of Massage Therapy, a two year program, which at the time was ranked one of the top five technical schools of therapeutic massage in the country. During school and for several months after graduating, Joe worked with several coaches and players on the Chicago Blackhawks professional hockey team, as well as performing in room massages at all of the top hotels in downtown Chicago with a company called Windy City Massage, Inc. Following his dream of traveling the country, Joe left Chicago and spent 4 years working in St. Thomas, USVI at Journey's Spa at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort. During his time in the Caribbean, Joe worked on several thousand clients from around the world. He also trained in Neuromuscular Therapy with Doug Nelson on ST. Croix, Orthopedic Sports Massage with James Waslaski in Puerto Rico, and also gained certification in La Stone therapy. In the slow season, Joe also traveled to work for several months at The Sports Massage Clinic in Boulder, Colorado, where he worked with many college athletes, predominantly marathon runners and tennis players. He also spent several weeks helping open the 5 diamond spa on Peter Island in the British Virgin Islands where he gained his first experience working in a 5 star resort.
After getting married and having his first child, Joe and his family decided to leave the Caribbean and move to Monterey, California, so that Joe could accept a job at the Spa at Pebble Beach. Soon, he and his wife found out that they were expecting their second child, so due to a lack of appointments, Joe chose to instead work at Bernardus Lodge in Carmel Valley, CA and Energia Body Centre, a sports massage clinic in Monterey, CA. At both spas, he quickly rose to be the highest requested therapist, specializing in marathon runners, golfers, and tennis players. Although Joe was wildly successful in California, upon the arrival of his daughter, he and his family chose to move back to Chicago to be closer to family and friends. For three years, he worked as top therapist at two indoor tennis facilities in the Chicago suburbs. Also during this time, Joe took continuing education classes in ankle, shoulder, and cervical neck injuries. Although they loved their time close to family, the cold of Chicago proved to be too much for them, so they moved here to the Hilton Head/Bluffton area. For almost five years now, Joe and his family have called this area home, including welcoming his third child and second son into the world several years ago. Over this time, he worked 6 or 7 days a week and soon grew to be the highest requested therapist at the Spa at Palmetto Bluff, recently named the top hotel spa in North America by Forbes, Conde Naste Traveler, and Travel & Leisure magazines.
After almost 15 years of working across the country with professional and amateur athletes, working in four and five diamond spas, and having done over 15,000 massages, Joe now has set his eyes on a new adventure, creating his own company, Hilton Head In Room Massage. By traveling right to client's front door, he and his staff will bring the five star spa experience right to your home, timeshare, or vacation rental. In addition to Joe, the company also has several female therapists who work on a referral basis and will be coming aboard on a full time basis in the near future.
